Click-to-Edit PDF Text

Drag & Drop a PDF here, or Click to Select. Click any text in the PDF to edit it directly, in place.

ℹ️ This works on PDFs with real, selectable text (Word/Excel exports, invoices, forms, letters). Scanned pages or drawings where text is stored as outlines/images can't be edited this way.

How to Use the Click-to-Edit PDF Tool

Step 1: Upload your PDF

Drag your file in, or click to select it. The page loads and shows your PDF exactly as it looks normally.

Step 2: Click the text you want to change

Click directly on any line or word. A cursor will appear right there. Type your correction, same as editing a text box.

Step 3: Download

Once you're done, hit "Download Edited PDF". Only the lines you touched get updated — everything else stays exactly as it was.

Questions people usually have

Do I need to install anything?

No. It runs in the browser tab you're already on. No app, no extension, no account. Open the page, upload the file, edit it, download it. That's the whole process.

Why can't I click on some PDFs and edit them?

This depends entirely on how the PDF was made, not on this tool. A PDF made from Word, Excel, an accounting app, or any invoicing software usually stores its text as actual text — letters and words the computer can read. Those work fine here.

But some PDFs are just a photo or a scan saved as a PDF. Others, especially technical drawings exported from CAD software, don't contain real text at all — every letter is drawn as a shape, like a tiny outline, the same way a logo is drawn. There's no "text" for a computer to find in those, so there's nothing to click into. This isn't a limitation of this tool specifically. No PDF editor, free or paid, can select text that was never stored as text in the first place. If you're not sure about your file, just try it — if the text highlights on click, it'll work.

Will editing one word mess up the rest of the layout?

No. Only the specific line you click gets touched. The tool covers just that one piece of text and puts your new text in its place, at the same size and position. Everything else on the page — tables, logos, stamps, other text, borders — stays untouched.

Is my file uploaded to a server somewhere?

No. Everything happens on your own device, inside the browser. The PDF never gets sent anywhere. This matters if you're editing something like an invoice, a contract, or any document with numbers or names you'd rather not upload to a random website.

Can I fix a wrong date, price, or spelling mistake on an invoice?

Yes, this is one of the most common uses. A wrong invoice date, a typo in an address, an extra zero in an amount — click on it, correct it, download. You don't need the original file the invoice was created from, and you don't need to ask whoever made it to resend it.

Does it keep the same font?

The new text is added in a plain, standard font at a matching size, not the exact original font. On most business documents (invoices, letters, forms) this is barely noticeable since the fonts used are usually simple ones already. On documents using a very distinct or stylised font, the new text may look slightly different from the rest. For small corrections like a date or a number, this is rarely an issue.

Can I edit more than one page?

Yes. Use the Next/Prev buttons to move between pages. You can edit text on as many pages as you like before downloading — all your changes across every page get applied together in one final file.

What if I click on text by mistake and don't want to change it?

Just click away without typing anything, or retype the same original text. If nothing actually changed, it won't be included in the download, and nothing on that line will be touched.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes, though a laptop or desktop is easier for precise clicking, especially on invoices with small text packed into tables. On mobile, zooming in first with the "+" zoom button before tapping on text will make it much easier to hit the right word.

Is this free?

Yes, fully free, with no sign-up and no watermark added to your file.

What if the text I want to add is longer than the original word?

It still works, but keep an eye on tight spaces like small table cells. If you replace "5" with "500" in a narrow column, the new number might sit a bit close to the cell border since the tool doesn't reflow the rest of the table around it. For short corrections — a date, a name, a price, a spelling fix — this is rarely a problem. For much longer replacement text in a very tight space, it's worth zooming in after downloading to check it looks right before you send the file out.

Can I undo a change after I've made it?

Before downloading, yes — just click back into the line and retype the original text. Once you've downloaded the edited file, the change is baked into that PDF, so keep your original file if you think you might need it again later. The tool never overwrites or deletes your original upload; it only creates a new, separate file when you click download.
